The training of spiritual leaders constitutes an essential component for the edification of the church and the effective fulfillment of its evangelistic mission. The purpose of this article is to analyze the importance of training spiritual leaders in the local church, based on biblical-theological foundations and theoretical contributions on leadership. This research corresponds to a qualitative study based on the review of academic, theological, and biblical sources related to the topic. Among the main findings, it is evident that Jesus Christ represents the supreme model of leader formation by selecting, instructing, accompanying, and commissioning the twelve disciples for the purpose of continuing the expansion of the gospel. Likewise, the local church is identified as the primary setting where spiritual leadership is cultivated, strengthened, and promoted for the advancement of evangelistic work. It is concluded that the training of spiritual leaders is decisive for ministerial continuity and the integral growth of the church.
