Dissemination and citation of an article
2023-03-30
To encourage dissemination and citation of an article, it is essential that the authors actively promote it. For this, some recommended actions can be taken into account:
- Disseminate the article on social networks, academic sites and personal pages: this can be achieved by creating a profile on free platforms such as Mendeley, ResearchGate, Academy, Google Scholar or on a personal blog. In this way, you can increase the visibility of the article in search engines and facilitate its dissemination.
- Using the article as reference material in course syllabi or thesis: this can encourage students to cite the article in their work and increase its visibility.
- Suggest to national and international colleagues that they use the article as a reference in their own research or as teaching material.
- Write a short synopsis (no more than two lines) that can be shared via email, social networks, blogs and web pages to invite colleagues and acquaintances to download and cite the article. It is important to include the link or DOI of the article.
- Promote the article in academic activities related to the subject, such as congresses, presentations or conversations.
- Register the article in your ORCID profile, a database for researchers that allows academic production to be kept up to date and offers an easy way to access it.
- Publish the article in the institutional repository of the institution to which it belongs, in order to increase its visibility in search engines.
