Abstract

Introduction: Dental treatments in pediatric patients are presented with great complexity due to many factors such as the behavior of the patient, the oral anatomy, the skill of the dentist and the materials used; all these influence to obtain the success in the treatment to be carried out. The procedures applied in pediatric patients must be of short duration and their efficacy must be shown.

Objectives: To determine the in vitro efficacy of CTZ and 3MIX-MP pastes against the growth of microorganisms present in deciduous dental abscess.

Materials and methods: The study is quantitative, cross-sectional and experimental. It consists of preparing antibiograms in 14 Petri dishes with Mueller Hinton agar, of each paste, with its 3 different doses giving a total of 18 results, plus 9 positive control tests, leaving a total of 27 observable and measurable samples, to measure the inhibition zone created by the antibiotic pastes CTZ and 3MIX-MP against microorganisms present in deciduous dental abscess.

Results: The difference was found between the effectiveness of the 3MIX-MP paste at 24 hours and at 48 hours, noting that the paste increases its effectiveness over time. The 3 MIX-MP paste shows significance between doses 1, 2 and 3, the latter being less effective and the CTZ paste shows a significant difference between dose 1 and dose 3

Conclusions: The antibiotic pastes applied in this research work, despite not having the same active component, when they are combined to form the CTZ and 3MIX-MP pastes, they have an antibacterial effect against pathogenic microorganisms present in the abscesses, mainly cocci gram bacteria. positive (Streptococci spp, Enterococci spp, Prevotella spp, Staphylococci spp) from deciduous teeth; proposing an alternative to the conventional filling material in the treatment of pulpectomy and odontogenic infection of deciduous teeth (calcium hydroxide, iodoform, barium sulfate).
