Influence of learning environments on the integral development of students

Abstract

This article shows a study on the degree of influence of learning environments on the integral development of students; the research was conducted with students from first to third grade of a school located in Medellin, Colombia. This institution uses a constructivist model with a social approach based on the implementation of specialized classrooms by subject and contact with natural environments (farm and school garden). In order to obtain the information, focus groups, interviews with students, semi-structured survey to five teachers, exploration and classroom observation were carried out. With the information provided, a process of analysis and reflection was carried out, showing the importance of the practice of active methodologies and the constant qualification of teachers. Another transcendental aspect is the need to facilitate living schools with direct approach to nature; this has a great impact on student coexistence and institutional climate. It is understood that everything around teaches or transfers knowledge. The document provides timely tools and recommendations necessary to establish learning environments that strengthen the integral development of students through the appropriate use of spaces.
