El día de la partida is the story of the death of a man who is ordered by the governor of the time to commit his own suicide. The entire event occurs in 24 hours. The speech focuses on knowing how Seneca (a faithful representative of Stoic philosophy) will face his own death. Therefore, the objective of this article will be to reflect on the Stoic experience of death in Enrique Serrano's El día de la partida. The purpose will be achieved in the following way. First, we will do a structural analysis of the story to discover how time, plot, space, etc. are organized. Next, we will make an approach to the historical moment of the characters. Then, we will focus on the thematic analysis of the story in order to discover the main theme and show the reasons for its argument. Finally, we will briefly present the conclusions of the path traveled.
